The Three musketeers!

This past Wednesday, we went to our mom and dad's for the day with all of the cousins. We had a special day that day b/c we had all the cousins dress up in their halloween costumes. Then I went downstairs and hid the candy for them to try to find. We first had a little group time with Aunt Shari explaining the rules. Then the kids all put their hands together and said "halloween fun" together and off the kids were down stairs to see how much candy they could collect. They had a great time finding the candy and having fun together. My dad tried to play tricks on us all day long by hiding scary looking masks throughout the house. The first one I found when I got to their house was a mask in the fridge. Not what you expect when you open the fridge. Only Dad...

All in all, we had a great time together with our halloween party!

Harvest Time!

Since their daddy is busy in the fields harvesting, Mitchell and Connor have been busy harvesting too! They have already harvested hundreds of acres so far in the past couple of weeks and have so many more fields to go. Mitchell begs me to farm with him every day b/c their is lots to harvest before winter. Here are a couple of pictures of them busy at it.

In regards to the real harvest that is going on, it's slow going like most farmers. They barely get in the fields and then it rains again. At this rate, they will be harvesting still at Christmas! Because the corn is so wet, the dryer will have to be going 24 hours a day which means late nights for Elden. It will be a long fall for everyone! I just pray for a safe havest as farmers put in long hours when it is fit to run! The joys of being a farmer!

Snow Already?

Mitchell was beyond excited when he woke up this morning and saw it snowing outside! He wanted to scoop snow this morning at 6:45 but I talked him into scooping later this morning. So as soon as they had breakfast and changed their clothes they got to go outside. Mitchell had a blast scooping snow off our deck. Here's a few pictures of him scooping!

Harvesting!

Elden finally got in the fields after a cool and wet fall. Things are going fairly well, so far they've done some beans and corn. Elden got his new CAT a few weeks ago so he was excited to try it out! Hopefully it will be nice for a while now so they can get some harvesting done! It was a beautiful day on Monday so I managed to get some pictures!

Four Wheeling

Pappa Van Zee was so nice to get Connor a four wheeler at a garage sale last week. It was battery operated and so it was easy to work! It is just Connor's size and now Connor and Mitchell can ride four wheelers together! Thanks Pappa Van Zee!

Rainy Day Pumpkins

Since we got some pumpkins at the pumpking farm yesterday, I thought it would be fun to paint the pumpkins today! The kids had a blast painting them and I had a blast taking their pictures! Here's a few pictures that I got!

Yesterday I had the privilage of accompaning Mitchell to his preschool field trip. We went to Caroll's Pumpking Farm in Grinnell. Although the weather was less than desirable, we had a great time. We got to go in the big machine shed and rode John Deere trikes and and swang on the rope in a different barn. After that we went to the hay barn and listened to a presentation about how corn was picked before combines were invented and how pumpkins grow. After that we had lunch and picked out our pumpkin! We had a great time learning about pumpkins!
